Route

  • This hill walk starts at the carpark at Aberarder on the north shore of Loch Laggan.Multimap.
  • Follow the path west then north west before turning west again. As the path continues you will see one of the most spectacular views in Scotland - the great wall of cliffs of Coire Ardair.

The long approach to Creag Meagaidh
  • To the right of the corrie you will see the bealach which you head for to attain the summit. This distinguished feature is called the Window and is the normal hillwalkers route to the summit of Creag Meagaidh. Undoubtedly you will see numerous climbers doing their stuff on the cliffs and gullies of the corries but just watching them was enough for me.

  • When you reach the window climb south to the plateau and then west to the summit (1130m, GR418875).

  • A return by the same route will take approximately 7 hours. But we stretched it out to just under 10 hours by testing our snow cave building skills in the deep snow of the corrie.
