Introduction

Dollar Glen is a classic spot for a lazy Sunday afternoon stroll with the kids........ that is, if I had children I'm quite sure that it would be ideal.

Waterfall at Dollar Glen

Situated in Dollar, less than 45 minutes out of either Glasgow or Edinburgh, it offers some very calming scenery. The emphasis is on a gentle stroll rather than a fearsome hike and the paths are all suitably maintained.

There are enough tracks to happily idle away a couple of hours and a wander up to the castle is a must.

In summary, Dollar Glen will fulfill the weekend necessity of feeling that you have done something active outdoors without requiring 4 days to recover from the exersion.

Route

  • Start from the carpark which is a few hundred metres up the hill from Dollar Golf course.

  • As with Bracklinn Falls there are a few different tracks that can be followed and a clear mounted map is shown at the carpark. There is sufficient walking for a really easy afternoon.

  • Once you've wandered happily through the wooded areas, there are always the gardens of Castle Campbell at the top of the hill.

Relax and enjoy..... you can always sweat it out properly on a munro next weekend.
